Large Art Deco Vase, White and Brown, Legras, France
Legras — 1920s
Large, long-necked Art Deco glass vase, signed by Legras. François-Théodore Legras (1839–1916) was one of the great French master glassmakers of the late 19th century. He managed the Saint-Denis glassworks, one of France's most important artistic glass manufactories. He is renowned for his Art Nouveau output, having been one of the movement's iconic creators alongside Gallé, Daum, and Lalique. From 1909, management was taken over by his nephew, Charles Legras, and designs gradually shifted toward Art Deco—a style that continued until 1928. The vase presented here is typical of this later period. Crafted from thick, blown glass—white speckled with brown—it features an acid-etched band of geometric patterns around its center. A beautiful decorative piece, signed near the base.
Dimensions: approximately 43 cm x 17 cm.
