Art Deco Silver-Plated Bronze Brooch: Woman and Swan, France

Raymond Pelletier — 1930

A beautiful Art Deco silver-plated bronze plaque, mounted as a brooch (pin on the reverse). It depicts a nude woman with a swan—a classic theme evoking purity and love (or the myth of Leda and the Swan). It is signed by Raymond Pelletier (1907–1958), a French sculptor, engraver, and medalist. An alumnus of the École Boulle, he created numerous bronze medals and plaques. From 1951 onwards, he served as the Chief Engraver at the Lima Mint in Peru. A fine, highly detailed piece.

Dimensions: 5.5 cm x 3.5 cm.

Very good condition; slight oxidation and a few scratches.
